Playing & Coaching Experience

Eric Hernandez attended his first volleyball camp back in 2005 and that’s when his love for the game started. Eric played 4 years at Paraclete High School, before playing 4 years of club volleyball at California State University, Monterey Bay where he was the starting setter for 4 years and captain for 3 years, winning all-league mentions twice. He also kept stats for the women’s teams at Paraclete High School and CSUMB, and that is where his desire to coach and influence the game began.

Eric began his coaching career as a senior in college in 2015 with Central Coast Volleyball Club in Monterey, California, where he lead the boys 17’s team to its highest ever finish. He has coached boys 18’s, 16’s and 14’s with Club West and Pac6 Volleyball Club. Eric is currently coaching boys at Santa Monica Beach Club and the Harvard-Westlake School varsity and middle school boys. Eric also coaches the main team for middle school girls at Harvard-Westlake, which routinely competes for championships.

Eric’s coaching philosophy is to teach the kids to love the game first, how to approach the game and life with a positive mentality, and how to battle for every point, whether it’s on or off the court.
