Giannina was born and raised in Los Angeles where she began playing volleyball at the age of 10. She graduated from Immaculate Heart High school in 2009 and received a degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge in 2013. In 2017, she received her Teaching Credential in Physical Education from Cal State Los Angeles. She’s hoping to return to school for a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology. She has been working in the service industry since 2011 and is an avid homebrewer with lots of knowledge of LA’s local craft beer scene. When not thinking about volleyball, she can be found at the local dog park with her beloved 2-year old rescue, Nacho or at a Dodgers game cheering on her Boys in Blue.

Coaching Experience

Returning to her alma mater Immaculate Heart after graduation, Giannina helped coach the Frosh, JV, and Varsity teams during their summer league in 2009. She picked up coaching again in 2017 by being name Head Coach of the Junior Varsity team and Assistant Head Coach of the Varsity team for Santee Education Complex’s Boys volleyball team. In 2019, she returned once again to IH to assist with Frosh and Varsity while leading the Junior Varsity team.

Playing Experience

While at St. Thomas The Apostle, her volleyball team consistently reach CYO playoffs. During club, she played for En Fuego VBC for two years before playing for Sportsshack’s 14-1 under Tim Nolan. Her 14-1 team placed 7th at the annual Reno Volleyball Festival in 2005. She returned to Sportsshack her sophomore year to play on the 16-2 team. Her junior year in high school, she played for Hollywood Vikings 17-1s. While in high school, she was named Best Offensive Player for Bishop Conaty’s Varsity team as a freshman in 2005, while also being named one of three captains. Sophomore – Senior year, she played at Immaculate Heart High school where she gathered awards such as Best All-Around Player, MVP, Best Offensive Player and was named to The Sunshine League’s 2nd All League team in both the 2007 and 2008 Fall season.

While attending Cal State Northridge, she continued to play volleyball at an intramural level where her team was named champions six semesters in a row. She continues to play as an adult in leagues such as Westside volleyball and LAVO, where her 2017 all women’s team placed 2nd in the spring league.
